The industry is going through a period of rapid change, and we still don\u2019t know what it\u2019s going to look like when we come out the other side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But there\u2019s good news. By the end of the first quarter, we started seeing encouraging booking trends in many different parts of the world. While there are still mobility restrictions in place, trends like <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3suHrW1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">nearby travel<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/32plEo7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">last-minute bookings<\/a> are continually on the rise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Spain, in particular, is a country where we\u2019re starting to see signs of renewed interest as guests start to regain their travel confidence <\/strong>and 1) splurge on last-minute trips 2) plan their summer and winter holidays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To help property managers in Spain prepare for the anticipated increase in demand, we looked at booking data from <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3n1D3MR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">RU Data Studio<\/a>, a new product by Rentals United. Catalonia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"274\" src=\"https:\/\/rentalsunited.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Booking-window-Catalonia-600x274-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26347\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rentalsunited.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Booking-window-Catalonia-600x274-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.rentalsunited.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Booking-window-Catalonia-600x274-1-300x137.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Source: Rentals United Data Studio<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most guests booking vacation rentals in Catalonia <strong>waited until the last minute<\/strong> to make their reservations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>61.1%<\/strong> of nights were <strong>booked within 30 days<\/strong>, with a large portion (<strong>17.52%<\/strong>) of the total nights <strong>booked as late as 0-2 days before arrival<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, there were quite a few <strong>far-out bookings for the summer and beyond, with 33.71%<\/strong> of the total nights being booked more than <strong>90 days in advance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 20px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"madrid\">2. Madrid<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"274\" src=\"https:\/\/rentalsunited.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Booking-window-Madrid-600x274-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rentalsunited.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Booking-window-Madrid-600x274-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.rentalsunited.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Booking-window-Madrid-600x274-1-300x137.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Source: Rentals United Data Studio<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Madrid, <strong>last-minute bookings were the overwhelming trend<\/strong> \u2013 more so than in any other region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>51.03%<\/strong> of nights were <strong>booked within 7 days<\/strong> and <strong>78.99%<\/strong> were booked within <strong>30 days of arrival<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only 1.15% of nights were booked in the 181-270-day window and just 0.63% were booked more than 270 days in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 20px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Andalusia\">3. Canary Islands<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"275\" src=\"https:\/\/rentalsunited.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Booking-window-Canary-Islands-600x275-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26368\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rentalsunited.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Booking-window-Canary-Islands-600x275-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.rentalsunited.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Booking-window-Canary-Islands-600x275-1-300x138.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Source: Rentals United Data Studio<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most vacation rental nights in the Canary Islands were <strong>booked within a month of arrival<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Almost one-third (<strong>28.76%<\/strong>) of all nights were <strong>booked within a week of check-in<\/strong>, and more than half (<strong>56.42%<\/strong>) were booked <strong>less than 31 days in advance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, we do see quite a <strong>few far-out bookings<\/strong> from guests planning to spend their summer and winter holidays in the Canary Islands. Nearly <strong>30%<\/strong> of the total nights booked in the region were<strong> booked over 90 days in advance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 20px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"baleric-islands\">5. Balearic Islands<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"276\" src=\"https:\/\/rentalsunited.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Booking-window-Balearic-islands-600x276-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26372\" bookings<\/strong> out of all the Spanish regions, with <strong>71.28%<\/strong> of nights booked more than <strong>90 days before arrival<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>44.45%<\/strong> of all nights were booked in the <strong>91-180-day window <\/strong>and <strong>26.83%<\/strong> were booked more than <strong>181 days in advance<\/strong>, suggesting that <strong>guests are planning ahead<\/strong> not only <strong>for the summer<\/strong> but also for the <strong>winter of 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last-minute bookings were rare, with only 8.68% of nights booked within a week of check-in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 30px;\" property is located?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Have you noticed that lately, channels that invest heavily in their marketing are performing better than those that don\u2019t?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With some channels investing less in marketing, it has opened up space for niche channels to take more of the market share.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking at channel statistics in <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3n1D3MR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">RU Data Studio<\/a>, it\u2019s clear that, while there\u2019s definitely a strong overlap, <strong>the top-performing channels aren\u2019t exactly the same in each region<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This proves that to get the best results, property managers should be looking at how channels are performing regionally rather than looking at Spain as a
